Congratulations to the Winners of the Mike’s Got This Essay Contest!

By

Our firm recently ran a fun essay contest challenging Debate KC students to answer a simple question: Who’s “got this” in your life? After reviewing all the incredible responses we received, we’re excited to announce the 3 finalists in our “Mike’s Got This” essay contest!

About the “Mike’s Got This” Essay Finalists

First announced in November 2019, our “Mike’s Got This” essay contest asked students to craft an original 750-word essay that described an important champion or hero in their lives. In addition to writing a great essay, students were asked to tell us a compelling story – and demonstrate a clear understanding of leadership, courage, and compassion in the process. Although it was a tough decision, our judging panel selected the following 3 finalists as the winners of the essay contest. Congratulations to the winners for sharing their remarkable stories – and a heartfelt “thank you” to everyone who participated in our essay contest!

1st Place: Jaleon Brown

In her powerful essay, Jaleon chose to write about her grandmother Peggy Williams – a breast cancer survivor who has lost loved ones and yet still manages to lift the spirits of others on a daily basis. Jaleon is 17 years old and attends Sumner Academy.

2nd Place: Faizion Campbell

Faizion’s moving essay on his mother, Tymira Sears, highlighted how she taught him the value of a growth mindset even in the face of adversity and hardship. Faizion is 17 years old and is currently a student at Cristo Rey Kansas City.

3rd Place: Cordelia Eaton

For her personal hero essay, 13-year old Cordelia Eaton wrote about her Accelerated Learning Programs (ALPs) teacher Benjamin Ellis, who has consistently encouraged her to explore her passion for film and speak her mind. Cordelia is a student at Center Middle School.

Promoting Civic Engagement for Our Youth

At DiPasqule Moore, we aim to support young people throughout our local community and encourage them to achieve all of their educational and personal goals. In addition to the “Mike’s Got This” essay contest, our firm was also recently proud to host The DiPasquale Moore Middle School Policy Debate Invitational with DEBATE-Kansas City (DKC), where over 200 students competed in rigorous debate and exercised their critical thinking and research skills. As personal injury lawyers, we fight hard on behalf of our clients – and as active community members, we truly believe in making a difference in the lives of those around us, both in and out of the courtroom. Because education is the cornerstone of lifelong success, our founding partner Michael DiPasquale and our entire team will continue to provide opportunities for the youth to get involved and learn more about leadership. Our attorneys are here to help if you’ve been injured. Give Mike and his team a call at (816) 888-7500 today.
