Case Summary:

A lumber worker in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, suffered a devastating injury while on the job when he was accidentally run over by a forklift operated by his supervisor. The incident caused severe trauma to his foot and led to four surgeries as doctors worked to repair the damage. Despite these efforts, the injury developed into Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), a chronic and painful condition that ultimately prevented him from returning to work.

Because of the seriousness of his injuries and the long-term impact on his ability to earn a living, the case required detailed medical evaluations and vocational analysis to fully understand how the injury would affect his future. Independent medical experts and vocational specialists provided reports explaining the extent of the disability and the challenges the worker would face moving forward.

During an all-day mediation attended by the injured worker and his family, negotiations focused on securing the financial support he would need for the rest of his life. The case ultimately settled for $550,000 for permanent disability, along with a $289,000 employer-funded Medicare Set-Aside to cover future medical care related to the injury.

This result helped ensure the injured worker has financial stability and access to the ongoing medical treatment he needs after a life-altering workplace accident.
