DM Injury Law is passionate about giving back to our community and believes in investing in our neighbors. Community involvement is very important to us, which is why we sponsor and host many events every week!
See how we wrapped up 2024 with our December initiatives!
20/20 Leadership – Leadership Expo
The Leadership Expo serves as an opportunity for our junior and senior student leaders to meet with professionals from a variety of businesses and organizations to learn more about career opportunities that exist after high school, as well as the skills and education needed for the workplace.
Do Good Foundation/Soul of Santa – Mobile Food Bank
In partnership with Harvesters, the “Do Good” Foundation offers monthly food distributions to service over 150 families and other residents of Kansas Cityโs East Side and beyond. We were able to give out over 20,000 pounds of food.
The Soul of Santa Christmas Tree Lighting: Shining a Light on Lupus
The 6th annual tree lighting ceremony will be held at the Historic 18th & Vine Jazz District. This annual celebration is all about the spirit of giving, inclusivity, and creating a festive season that will spread joy throughout the Greater Kansas City community.
This year, the Soul of Santa “Do Good” Foundation dedicated the tree lighting to Lupus awareness and support. Lupus is a chronic disease that impacts millions of lives and often goes unnoticed.
Simone Awards
The Thomas A. Simone Memorial Football Award is presented annually to the most outstanding high school football player in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area. The award was originally established in 1932 in the name of Dr. D.M. Nigro and continued until Dr. Nigroโs death in 1976. No award was given from 1976-83 until Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Simone, as a tribute to their 12-year-old son Tommy, who was tragically killed in an automobile accident in April 1983, reinstated the award.
The recipient of this prestigious award is selected by a vote of the high school football coaches and select media members in the metropolitan area. The award is given to the football player who is most representative of excellence on the playing field. The trophy presented today symbolizes the qualities of love, courage, and friendship โ qualities young Tommy so aptly displayed. Along with the trophy, which resides at the high school of the recipient for a period of one year, the Simone-Fontana Foundation presents a donation of $1,500 to the athletic department of the recipients’ high school.
Neighbor 2 Neighbor’s Holiday Meal for the Homeless
Hungry neighbors come each day to Neighbor2Neighbor looking for nutritious meals away from the elements, a place where they feel safe, welcome, and respected. Our volunteers served a full meal of spareribs, green beans, and potato salad, as well as a dessert and some fruit.
Urban Community Connections: “Adopt-A-Family”
Adopt-A-Family at Christmas is an event that simulates a boutique where parents can come and pick out gifts for their children. Toys, wrapping paper, and other supplies are offered to the families at the event. Our volunteers will help set up the holiday store to create a welcoming and efficient environment where parents and guardians can shop for holiday gifts!
