DM Injury Law Hosts Its First Annual Citywide Basketball Championship

By

DM Injury Law was proud to host the first annual “Who’s Got This?” Citywide Basketball Championship over Thanksgiving weekend. About 20 teams participated in total, ranging from fourth, fifth, and sixth graders all over the Kansas City Metro Area.

The tournament took place at the Homefield Showcase Center in Kansas City, Kansas. The day was full of fun, with three divisions playing simultaneously, a game of “Pig” at halftime, and all proceeds going toward Harvesters in Kansas City.

Check out a play-by-play of the day below!

Entry In: Food Donation.

Parents were ecstatic when they found out the only cost to enter the tournament was a food donation to Harvesters. It’s pretty common to spend a lot of money at their children’s sports tournaments – you often have to pay $20 for parking, $15 per ticket, and other costs.

We asked all those attending to bring at least one non-perishable food item to donate to Harvesters for the Holidays.

“Basketball is great, youth sports are great, but we’re also here taking donations for Harvesters, which we know impacts the community, especially this time of the year…Christmas is coming up here in a few weeks; a lot of people out there need a lot of help. I love it when I walk in and I see all the food that people bring. Makes me feel really good about that,” said DM Law founder and personal injury attorney Michael DiPasquale.

Halftime: The Competition Continues.

The fun didn’t stop with the games, though. The tournament took a quick halftime to show off other skills of the young athletes as well as Mike himself.

One player was challenged to a game of “Pig” by Mike. While Mike was able to sink an impressive half-court shot, he ultimately lost to the player from MOKAN. The winner went home with a new smart TV!

Other athletes participated in a skills contest. This included taking shots from different areas of the court, layups, trick shots, and more! The winners of this competition then played in a three-on-three game.

Incredible Half-Court Shot by Mike!
