Our client, Curteecia Wade, was in a hotel bathroom when a light fixture fell off the wall, causing injury to her already injured spine. Since Curteecia already had a pre-existing condition, it was hard to get the hotel’s insurance company to pay a fair settlement. In fact, they didn’t even believe the incident had even happened.
This accident could have been prevented if the hotel manager had hired a maintenance company to inspect the property. Since there was very little evidence in this case, the insurance company initially offered Cureecia $25,000. However, she needed much more due to high medical bills.
Cureecia told us that she had hired a different personal injury lawyer for a different accident and was not satisfied with the results. “I made it my job to get as much money as possible for her so that she can try and make her life as normal as possible,” said Attorney Kevin Carr. After careful examination of medical evidence and of the pictures from the accident, we were able to secure an $80,000 settlement for Curteecia. This was more than enough to help pay for her medical costs. “It goes to show that carefully examining even the smallest pieces of evidence can make a huge difference.”
