Our client was riding his motorcycle when another driver struck him at high speed and then fled the scene. He was left alone on a dark road, seriously injured and in extreme pain, with no help in sight. The driver responsible was never identified.
The injuries were severe. Our client suffered multiple fractures in his lower leg, deep wounds, and burn injuries. He required emergency surgery, additional procedures to stabilize his leg with hardware, and months of ongoing care. His recovery included hospital stays, home health wound treatment, physical therapy, and constant medical appointments just to begin healing.
Because the at-fault driver was never found, there was no insurance company to hold accountable. Our team worked closely with police, investigators, and nearby residents to try to identify the driver, but no leads surfaced. Fortunately, our client had uninsured motorist coverage, something he didn’t even realize could apply in a hit-and-run situation.
Using that coverage, we were able to secure the full policy limits of $100,000. This settlement helped cover his medical bills and provided compensation for the pain, trauma, and disruption the accident caused. This case shows that even when a driver flees the scene, injured victims may still have options.
