We represented the three children of a deceased man. Our clients' father was driving straight through an intersection with a green light when another truck began making a left turn as his light had already turned red. The turning truck was hauling a long bridge beam but did not have proper warning markers, such as flags or reflectors, making it extremely difficult to see in the dark.
As the truck turned, the bridge beam extended into the path of oncoming traffic. Our clients' father had no warning and no time to react. The beam struck the top of his truck, causing fatal injuries. He passed away at the scene, leaving behind three children.
We fought to hold the responsible parties accountable and secured a $1.5 million settlement for the family. While no amount of money can undo such a devastating loss, this result helped provide financial security for the children and some measure of justice for a life wrongfully taken.
