Yenesis is a Legal Assistant in the Litigation Department at DM Law, supporting attorneys and managing filings. She also communicates regularly with clients to update them on their case and answer their questions.
Yenesis enjoys working with her colleagues at DM Law because everyone is kind. She also enjoys working with clients from the Latino community because she can communicate with them in their own language, helping them feel at ease—especially during difficult or painful times after an accident, when they need someone they can trust who understands them. She believes Latinos should call DM Law because of the firm’s commitment to serving the Spanish-speaking community, as well as the many external resources they have to offer.
Hispanic Roots
Yenesis was born in Lamar, Colorado, and moved to Fairway, Kansas in 2008 with her family.
Her maternal and paternal grandparents are from Mexico. She learned Spanish from her grandmother, who used to take care of her and her brother. Her family encouraged them to speak Spanish all the time to preserve the language, and she will always be grateful for it because it has helped her in many ways.
What she loves most about Hispanic culture is the food, especially what her grandmother prepares at Christmas. Chile pork tamales and pozole are her favorites! She really enjoys spending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with her family every year, as it is their special tradition.
Education
She studied in the Legal Studies program at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas.
Fun Facts
Yenesis absolutely adores her 7-year-old boxer dog named Blair. She has had him since he was a puppy!
Two of her favorite hobbies are taking Blair to the dog park and participating in 5K races in the Kansas City area.
A few words from Yenesis…
“When I work with Hispanic clients who barely speak or understand English, I think of my grandparents, and it reminds me of the sense of comfort they feel whenever they meet an employee who speaks Spanish. I use that same understanding when working with Spanish-speaking clients because I believe it helps them feel confident in trusting me.”
