In December of 2023, our client, Monica Ezell, was the victim of a hit-and-run car accident. She did the right thing and called the police to report the accident. The police were unable to find the other driver that caused the accident. The crash left Monica with injuries to her back, spine, and neck.

Unfortunately, Monica passed away due to an asthma attack in April 2024. This caused the case to take a different direction. It’s difficult to pursue compensation when there is no client or witnesses to make statements. However, we did not give up.

We assisted Monica’s daughter, Brandi, through the process of becoming the administrator of her mother’s estate. We worked with an estate planning attorney to set up an estate for Monica’s children. As a result of our combined work, we were able to secure a $12,000 settlement through our client’s insurance policy. In a case where a client dies of causes unrelated to the accident, it can make the process of obtaining a settlement very challenging. Without a victim to testify, the entire process can take significantly longer, and the settlement value can become lower. However, we persevered, and significantly reduced Monica’s outstanding medical bills and have provided financial compensation and peace of mind to her children.

“We took what could have been a complicated and lengthy case into one where we got our client and her family a considerable settlement efficiently. Other firms would’ve likely taken twice as long.”
