This accident happened in August of 2021. Our client, Octavia Knighten, allowed her friend to borrow her car. Octavia was a passenger in the car while her friend was driving. While on the road, Octavia’s friend started to doze off at the wheel, crashing into an Ameren utility pole. The car was totaled, and the driver refused to pay for the damages.
Along with a totaled car, there was $8,000 worth of damage to the utility pole. The car was recently uninsured at the time, so we had to track down insurance through the friend’s grandmother.
This accident occurred in August 2021. Octavia originally approached another law firm for her car accident case; however, her attorney did not see a successful path forward. After having her case dropped by her attorney, she was not able to pay to have the Ameren pole fixed and was at risk of losing her driver’s license. Octavia eventually turned to DM Injury Law for legal representation. We were able to secure a $25,000 settlement, which was more than enough to pay for the Ameren utility pole and Octavia’s medical bills. Even if your car is uninsured or you have been told there is no hope of compensation, it’s always beneficial to speak to a car accident lawyer for guidance!
