We kicked off the school year with exciting football games, tons of food, and books! All over Missouri, DM Injury Law spent September with our neighbors.
Take a look at just a few of our community involvement initiatives from September!
Johnson County Bar Association
We participated in the annual Foundation golf tournament with the Johnson County Bar Association, one of the year’s can’t-miss social and fundraising events. The tournament offered all members of the legal community, golfers and non-golfers alike, the opportunity to spend a day on the beautiful St. Andrews Golf Club course, enjoying each other’s company.
Court staff, attorneys, judges, and local businesses all gathered for a day of excellent food, drinks, and entertainment while raising money for local charities.
Do Good Foundation
In partnership with Harvesters, the Do Good Foundation hosted monthly food distributions to serve clients and other residents of Kansas City’s East Side and surrounding communities. On average, more than 150 families came through to receive assistance, and we were able to distribute over 20,000 pounds of food.

5th Annual Literacy KC Mini Golf Classic
We joined the 5th Annual Literacy KC Classic on September 13, 2025. Teams of five tested their skills on a mini-golf course throughout KC Live! in Kansas City’s Power & Light District. Guests enjoyed lunch and drinks during their round, live music, a silent auction, signature cocktails, and awards and prizes.
The 5th Annual Literacy KC Classic directly supported adult learners as they worked to change their lives through education. With incredible community support, we celebrated over 60 high school graduates who walked across the stage to receive their diplomas in July and the 65% of students who advanced in their education during the past school year. Our participation helped Literacy KC continue addressing the unmet educational needs in our community.
Tree Planting | Bridging the Gap
We helped a local neighborhood become healthier by planting trees. This initiative supported cleaner air, better environmental health, and stronger communities. Planting trees helped slow traffic speeds, filter air and water pollutants, and combat climate change by removing carbon dioxide from the air, storing carbon in the trees and soil, and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere.

Ames Visual & Performing Arts Elementary Grandparents Breakfast 2025
Ames Visual & Performing Arts Elementary School in North St. Louis City hosted a special Grandparents Breakfast with more than 150 grandparents in attendance to support their grandchildren. Mr. Robert LaPlante, a Family Support Specialist, spoke about the impact of reading aloud to children and how this simple daily practice can greatly improve test scores and overall academic success.
Following the presentation, grandparents enjoyed a warm breakfast provided by Hope Nation International Church, which we sponsored. We were proud to support children and programs that encourage reading and lifelong learning.

KCUA Pickleball Tournament
We participated in one of the most popular pickleball tournaments in Kansas City, the KCUA Pickleball Tournament. Players enjoyed a morning featuring a delicious brunch buffet with chicken and waffles, scrambled eggs, fruit, dessert bites, and the world’s best bacon. The silent auction featured rock star swag from local businesses, autographed items from A-listers, fun trips, and bucket-list experiences.
KC G.I.F.T.’s The Vision of Equity Gala
We attended Kansas City G.I.F.T.’s Vision of Equity Gala—an extraordinary evening where Black excellence shone, purpose was elevated, and a powerful movement took center stage.
On Saturday, September 20th, we stepped into a world of elegance, energy, and impact. The Vision of Equity Gala wasn’t just a celebration—it was a statement. A declaration that equity isn’t just a goal; it’s the standard.

Books for STL Kids: 2025 Largest Books Party
On September 23, we proudly volunteered at STL Books for Kids’ annual STL’s Largest Book Party, held at Busch Stadium. This community event brought together approximately 300 children, teachers, and their families for a day filled with free books and storytelling designed to inspire a love of reading. Special guest Redbird from the St. Louis Cardinals joined for photos, adding to the excitement.
We remained committed to supporting schools and literacy programs, believing that when children develop strong reading skills, they gain the foundation needed for future academic success and brighter opportunities ahead.
20/20 Leadership | New Brand Reveal – Now Youth Lead KC
After nearly a year of thoughtful planning, we joined 20/20 Leadership for a special event unveiling its new name, logo, and brand identity—Youth Lead KC. This exciting transformation was made possible through a Capacity Building Grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, allowing the organization to align its brand more closely with its mission and the impact it continues to make in the lives of young leaders.
We were honored to share this milestone moment with fellow champions, partners, donors, alumni, and advocates as we helped turn the page to a bold new chapter in the organization’s 30+ year history.
Guadalupe Centers | Blanco Y Negro: Legacy & Legends Gala
We attended the Blanco Y Negro: Legacy & Legends Gala hosted by Guadalupe Centers, celebrating over 100 years of impact and honoring the changemakers who paved the way—as well as the visionaries shaping our future. Guadalupe Centers continues to serve the Latino community through impactful programs for all ages, from early childhood education to family and individual support across the Kansas City metro and beyond.

Football Game of the Week in September!
Every week, we choose a Kansas City high school football game to highlight. Here are some of September’s!
