How Do I Know If I Have a Case?

My name is Ryan Watson. I'm an attorney at DM Injury Law, and a question I receive a lot is how do I know if I have a personal injury case? I'm going to revert back to law school for this one. Generally speaking, any personal injury case you need various things. Duty, breach, causation, damages. When I say duty, that they have an obligation to do something, do they have an obligation to drive safely on the road? Do they have an obligation to clear a walkway or make sure that there wasn't a a puddle on the floor at a business or something like that? So that's duty. Breach. Did they do something wrong? Were they speeding? Did they not yield at a yield area? Did they not stop at a stop sign? They breached that duty. Then causation. Did whatever they did wrong: Did it cause me harm? Did medically cause the broken wrist that I have, or the herniated disc that I have in my back? And then last is damages. Did it cause me harm? Do I have medical bills? Do I have lost wages? Do I have pain and suffering? Will I have future medical bills? Things like that. So that's the kind of the general thing that you look at when you say, do I have a personal injury case? I will say this if if it were me or my family member, I would tell them if I'm not sure if I have a personal injury case, I call because the worst thing that can happen and I have it happen all too often, is people call me after a period of time and I tell them, man, I wish you would have called me, called me earlier because we could have done something for you And so. So my rule of thumb is, if you're not sure, call reach out. So give us a call at DM Injury Law.
