My name is Ryan Watson. I'm an attorney at DM Injury Law, and a question I receive a lot is how do I know if I have a personal injury case? I'm going to revert back to law school for this one. Generally speaking, any personal injury case you need various things. Duty, breach, causation, damages. When I say duty, that they have an obligation to do something, do they have an obligation to drive safely on the road? Do they have an obligation to clear a walkway or make sure that there wasn't a a puddle on the floor at a business or something like that? So that's duty. Breach. Did they do something wrong? Were they speeding? Did they not yield at a yield area? Did they not stop at a stop sign? They breached that duty. Then causation. Did whatever they did wrong: Did it cause me harm? Did medically cause the broken wrist that I have, or the herniated disc that I have in my back? And then last is damages. Did it cause me harm? Do I have medical bills? Do I have lost wages? Do I have pain and suffering? Will I have future medical bills? Things like that. So that's the kind of the general thing that you look at when you say, do I have a personal injury case? I will say this if if it were me or my family member, I would tell them if I'm not sure if I have a personal injury case, I call because the worst thing that can happen and I have it happen all too often, is people call me after a period of time and I tell them, man, I wish you would have called me, called me earlier because we could have done something for you And so.
